About the department (KTP)
The concept of the department is based on the connection of the traditional approach with the use of modern teaching information technologies. In addition to teaching legal theory focused on legal propaedeutics, methodology and legal philosophy, we teach the basics of legislation, a number of optional subjects (e.g. human rights, legal informatics, sociological aspects of law, Islamic law, etc.) and participate in a doctoral study program. We understand the theory of law in close connection with legal history and Roman law. We have long-term cooperation with the Law Faculty of the Charles University (teaching), the Institute of State and Law of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic (information technology), the Faculty of Applied Science (speech digitization) and the MU Faculty of Informatics (natural language digitization). Every two years we organize a series of international conferences Metamorphoses of Law in Central Europe. As part of the course, students have free access to the original programs AcademicLex and PES, which contain the complete Czech legal code from 1918, jurisprudence, lectures, scripts, textbooks, dictionaries and linguistic tools for analyzing legal texts.
