Doctoral studies

The Faculty of Law at UWB has an accredited doctoral study program "Theoretical Legal Sciences," with a specialization in "Civil Law."

  • Study program number: P6801
  • Mode of study: Full-time
  • Standard duration of study: 4 years
  • Accreditation valid until: 2028
  • Accreditation decision number: NAU - 197/2018 -8

The aim of the study program is to deepen theoretical knowledge in the field of civil law in its broadest contexts resulting from its new codification, so that graduates are able to independently analyze civil law issues not only de lege lata, but also de lege ferenda . Based on this, the graduate will also acquire the foundations of independent scientific and pedagogical work. The graduates will be able to find employment primarily in the academic field, either as an independent researcher or as teacher. Thanks to their in-depth theoretical knowledge, they will also be able to work at a high professional level in legislative and application practice, especially as drafters of legislative proposals, judges, lawyers, or notaries and bailiffs. Their language skills will enable them to work in international relations, particularly in the fields of science or legal practice. The education and skills and knowledge acquired will be useful to graduates in employment with employers such as universities, scientific institutes, or (ifthey are not self-employed) public autorities  (especially courts), or employers within EU structures.
