Department of Legal History

About the department (KPD)

The Department of Legal History is one of the few departments in the Czech Republic specializing in legal history, Roman law and religious law. In addition to the compulsory subjects for most students, which are Czech and Czechoslovak legal history, general history of the state and law, and Roman law, the department offers a number of specialized compulsory optional subjects relating to various areas not only of European legal history, but also of religious law. The Department of Legal History cooperates with a number of domestic workplaces and institutions, in addition to partner departments of law faculties, for example, also with the Czech Bar Association, the Notary Chamber of the Czech Republic, the Executor's Chamber of the Czech Republic, the Pilsen Bishopric or the National Institute of Monuments and other institutions. It also cooperates with law faculties and other institutions abroad, especially in Slovakia and Poland.
